   Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR gamma), a NR1 Thyroid Hormone-Like Receptor, is a transcription factor that regulates genes involved in lipid metabolism and adipocyte differentiation and has been shown to affect placental differentiation and cell proliferation and differentiation pathways in various diseases such as Type II diabetes and atherosclerosis. Recently, PPAR gamma has been suggested to affect inflammatory digestive diseases (Dubuquoy et al. 2002).

 Western Blot (WB) of anti-PPARG antibody    Anti-PPAR2 Antibody - Western Blot. Western blot of affinity purified anti-PPAR2 antibody shows detection of PPAR2 protein in a mouse 3T3 whole cell lysate (lane 1 arrowhead). Approximately 20 ug of lysate was loaded onto a 4-20% gradient gel followed by transfer to nitrocellulose. Primary antibody was used at a 1:2000 dilution in 5% BLOTTO PBS solution. The membrane was washed and reacted with a 1:10000 dilution of IRDye800 Conjugated Affinity Purified Goat-anti-Rabbit IgG [H&L] MX10. Molecular weight estimation was made by comparison to prestained MW markers indicated at the left (lane M). Other detection systems will yield similar results.

 NCBI Summary for PPARG    This gene encodes a member of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) subfamily of nuclear receptors. PPARs form heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs) and these heterodimers regulate transcription of various genes. Three subtypes of PPARs are known: PPAR-alpha, PPAR-delta, and PPAR-gamma. The protein encoded by this gene is PPAR-gamma and is a regulator of adipocyte differentiation. Additionally, PPAR-gamma has been implicated in the pathology of numerous diseases including obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis and cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
