Related Product Information for anti-ACTB antibody

Beta-actin (PS1TP5-binding protein 1), also known as ACTB, PS1TP5BP1. Entrez Protein NP_001092. It is one of six different actin proteins. Actin, a ubiquitous eukaryotic protein, is the major component of the cytoskeleton.Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility, structure, and integrity. Actin is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. This actin is a major constituent of the contractile apparatus and one of the two nonmuscle cytoskeletal actins.

NCBI Summary for ACTB    This gene encodes one of six different actin proteins. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in cell motility, structure, integrity, and intercellular signaling. The encoded protein is a major constituent of the contractile apparatus and one of the two nonmuscle cytoskeletal actins that are ubiquitously expressed. Mutations in this gene cause Baraitser-Winter syndrome 1, which is characterized by intellectual disability with a distinctive facial appearance in human patients. Numerous pseudogenes of this gene have been identified throughout the human genome. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]

UniProt Comments for ACTB    Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells.MiscellaneousIn vertebrates 3 main groups of actin isoforms, alpha, beta and gamma have been identified. The alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus. The beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton and as mediators of internal cell motility.CautionWas originally thought to be part of the MLL5-L complex, at least composed of KMT2E, STK38, PPP1CA, PPP1CB, PPP1CC, HCFC1, ACTB and OGT (PubMed:19377461). However, the corresponding article has been retracted (PubMed:24336203).

Research Articles on ACTB    1. Baraitser-Winter cerebrofrontofacial syndrome is caused by missense mutations in the cytoplasmic beta- and gamma-actin genes ACTB and ACTG1. We provide an overview of the clinical characteristics (including some novel findings in four recently diagnosed patients), diagnosis, management, mutation spectrum and genetic counselling.
