Product Note    Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes    Small volumes of STAT2 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for STAT2 purchase    MBS055096 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 2 (STAT2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing STAT2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS055096 kit is based on STAT2 antibody-STAT2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect STAT2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, STAT2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for STAT2    The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. In response to interferon (IFN), this protein forms a complex with STAT1 and IFN regulatory factor family protein p48 (ISGF3G), in which this protein acts as a transactivator, but lacks the ability to bind DNA directly. Transcription adaptor P300/CBP (EP300/CREBBP) has been shown to interact specifically with this protein, which is thought to be involved in the process of blocking IFN-alpha response by adenovirus. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

UniProt Comments for STAT2    STAT2: transcription factor of the STAT family. Phosphorylated and activated by receptor-associated kinases downstream of many cytokines and growth-factor receptors. Binds to the IFN-stimulated response element (ISRE) and to the Gas element. This multiprotein transcription factor is termed ISGF3. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; cytosol

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; signal transducer activity; protein binding; DNA binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription, DNA-dependent; viral reproduction; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; JAK-STAT cascade; defense response to virus
