Searchable Terms for PEDF purchase    MBS030959 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the PIgMent Epithelium Derived Factor (PEDF) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 6.25 ng/ml - 200 ng/ml in biological research samples containing PEDF, with an estimated sensitivity of 1.0 ng/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS030959 kit is based on PEDF antibody-PEDF antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PEDF antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PEDF. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Undiluted original Horse body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PEDF    The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serpin family, although it does not display the serine protease inhibitory activity shown by many of the other serpin family members. The encoded protein is secreted and strongly inhibits angiogenesis. In addition, this protein is a neurotrophic factor involved in neuronal differentiation in retinoblastoma cells.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for PEDF    PEDF: a secreted neurotrophic protein that induces extensive neuronal differentiation in retinoblastoma cells. Potent inhibitor of angiogenesis. As it does not undergo the S (stressed) to R (relaxed) conformational transition characteristic of active serpins, it exhibits no serine protease inhibitory activity. The N-terminal (AA 44-121) exhibits neurite outgrowth-inducing activity. The C-terminal exposed loop (AA 382-418) is essential for serpin activity. Extracellular phosphorylation enhances antiangiogenic activity.
