Searchable Terms for EFEMP1 purchase    MBS178533 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Quantitative Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Fibulin-3/EFEMP1, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 312pg/ml-20000pg/ml in biological research samples containing EFEMP1, with an estimated sensitivity of <10pg/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS178533 kit is based on EFEMP1 antibody-EFEMP1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect EFEMP1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, EFEMP1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA). Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for EFEMP1 elisa kit

Principle of the Assay: Human Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immunesorbent assay technology. A specific for Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(Expression system for standard: CHO; Immunogen sequence: Q18-F493) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection specific for Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Human Fibulin-3/EFEMP1 amount of sample captured in plate.

Background/Introduction: EGF-containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EFEMP1 gene. This gene encodes a member of the fibulin family of extracellular matrix glycoproteins. Like all members of this family, the encoded protein contains tandemly repeated epidermal growth factor-like repeats followed by a C-terminus fibulin-type domain. This gene is upregulated in malignant gliomas and may play a role in the aggressive nature of these tumors. Mutations in this gene are associated with Doyne honeycomb retinal dystrophy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode the same protein have been described.

UniProt Comments for EFEMP1    EFEMP1: Binds EGFR, the EGF receptor, inducing EGFR autophosphorylation and the activation of downstream signaling pathways. May play a role in cell adhesion and migration. May function as a negative regulator of chondrocyte differentiation. In the olfactory epithelium, it may regulate glial cell migration, differentiation and the ability of glial cells to support neuronal neurite outgrowth. Defects in EFEMP1 are a cause of Doyne honeycomb retinal dystrophy (DHRD); also known as malattia leventinese (MLVT) (ML). DHRD is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by yellow-white deposits known as drusen that accumulate beneath the retinal pigment epithelium. Belongs to the fibulin family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
