Other Notes
Small volumes of HMMR/CD168 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS024203 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Hyaluronan-Mediated Motility Receptor (HMMR/CD168) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing HMMR/CD168. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS024203 kit is based on HMMR/CD168 antibody-HMMR/CD168 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect HMMR/CD168 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, HMMR/CD168. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for HMMR/CD168
The protein encoded by this gene is involved in cell motility. It is expressed in breast tissue and together with other proteins, it forms a complex with BRCA1 and BRCA2, thus is potentially associated with higher risk of breast cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]

UniProt Comments for HMMR/CD168
HMMR: Involved in cell motility. When hyaluronan binds to HMMR, the phosphorylation of a number of proteins, including PTK2/FAK1 occurs. May also be involved in cellular transformation and metastasis formation, and in regulating extracellular- regulated kinase (ERK) activity. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Receptor, misc.
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q34
Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; cytoplasm; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: hyaluronic acid binding
Biological Process: glycosaminoglycan metabolic process; carbohydrate metabolic process; pathogenesis; hyaluronan metabolic process; hyaluronan catabolic process
Disease: Breast Cancer
