Searchable Terms for MMP-17 purchase    MBS2502744 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Quantitative Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the MMP-17, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 0.16-10 ng/mL in biological research samples containing MMP-17, with an estimated sensitivity of Human MMP-17 is 0.10 ng/mL. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2502744 kit is based on MMP-17 antibody-MMP-17 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MMP-17 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MMP-17. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for MMP-17 elisa kit

Intended Uses: This ELISA kit can be applied to the in vitro quantitative determination of Human MMP-17 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been precoated with an antibody specific to Human MMP-17. Standards or samples are added to appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibodies specific for Human MMP-17 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. After incubation, free components are washed away. Then the Substrate Reagent is added to each well, only those wells that contain Human MMP-17, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction will be terminated by adding Stop Solution and appears yellow in color. The optical density (OD) can be measured with spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human MMP-17. The concentration of Human MMP-17 in samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples with the standard curve.

NCBI Summary for MMP-17    Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The protein encoded by this gene is considered a member of the membrane-type MMP (MT-MMP) subfamily. However, this protein is unique among the MT-MMP's in that it is a GPI-anchored protein rather than a transmembrane protein. The protein activates MMP-2 by cleavage. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for MMP-17    MMP17: Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as fibrin. May be involved in the activation of membrane-bound precursors of growth factors or inflammatory mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha. May also be involved in tumoral process. Not obvious if able to proteolytically activate progelatinase A. Does not hydrolyze collagen types I, II, III, IV and V, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, decorin nor alpha1-antitrypsin. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Activator; EC 3.4.24.-; Membrane protein, integral; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q24.3

Cellular Component: proteinaceous extracellular matrix; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: zinc ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity; enzyme activator activity; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of catalytic activity; proteolysis

Research Articles on MMP-17    1. CAV1 when found in lipid rafts does not allow the metalloproteinase MT4-MMP to localize into the lipid rafts, affecting its expression in the cell and probably its activity which is translated into the metastasis-associated activities of these cells.
