Searchable Terms for NOTCH4 purchase    MBS900186 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Notch homolog 4 (Drosophila) (NOTCH4) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 78 pg/ml-5000 pg/ml in biological research samples containing NOTCH4, with an estimated sensitivity of 19.5 pg/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS900186 kit is based on NOTCH4 antibody-NOTCH4 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect NOTCH4 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, NOTCH4. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and Cell lysates. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Product Description specifically for NOTCH4 elisa kit

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for NOTCH4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any NOTCH4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for NOTCH4 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of NOTCH4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for NOTCH4    This gene encodes a member of the Notch family. Members of this Type 1 transmembrane protein family share structural characteristics including an extracellular domain consisting of multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats, and an intracellular domain consisting of multiple, different domain types. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions. The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signaling pathway that plays a key role in development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remain to be determined. This protein is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. This protein functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play a role in vascular, renal and hepatic development. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia in a small portion of cases. An alternative splice variant has been described but its biological nature has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for NOTCH4    NOTCH4: Functions as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands Jagged1, Jagged2 and Delta1 to regulate cell-fate determination. Upon ligand activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD) it forms a transcriptional activator complex with RBPJ/RBPSUH and activates genes of the enhancer of split locus. Affects the implementation of differentiation, proliferation and apoptotic programs. May regulate branching morphogenesis in the developing vascular system. Heterodimer of a C-terminal fragment N(TM) and a N- terminal fragment N(EC) which are probably linked by disulfide bonds. Interacts with MAML1, MAML2 and MAML3 which act as transcriptional coactivators for NOTCH4. Highly expressed in the heart, moderately in the lung and placenta and at low levels in the liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, spleen, lymph node, thymus, bone marrow and fetal liver. No expression was seen in adult brain or peripheral blood leukocytes. Belongs to the NOTCH family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
