Other Notes    Small volumes of MFI2 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for MFI2 purchase    MBS946083 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the antigen p97 (melanoma associated) identified by monoclonal antibodies 133.2 and 96.5 (MFI2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 0.156 ng/ml-10 ng/ml in biological research samples containing MFI2, with an estimated sensitivity of 0.039 ng/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS946083 kit is based on MFI2 antibody-MFI2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MFI2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MFI2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, Cell lysates. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for MFI2 elisa kit

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for melanotransferrin has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any melanotransferrin present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for melanotransferrin is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of melanotransferrin bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for MFI2    The protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein found on melanoma cells. The protein shares sequence similarity and iron-binding properties with members of the transferrin superfamily. The importance of the iron binding function has not yet been identified. This gene resides in the same region of chromosome 3 as members of the transferrin superfamily. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for MFI2    MFI2: Involved in iron cellular uptake. Seems to be internalized and then recycled back to the cell membrane. Binds a single atom of iron per subunit. Could also bind zinc. Belongs to the transferrin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q28-q29

Cellular Component: anchored to plasma membrane; cell surface; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; ferric iron binding; iron ion binding

Biological Process: cellular iron ion homeostasis; regulation of cell growth; regulation of cell proliferation
