Searchable Terms for CTSK purchase    MBS700377 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the cathepsin K (CTSK) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 7.8 pg/ml-500 pg/ml in biological research samples containing CTSK, with an estimated sensitivity of 1.95 pg/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS700377 kit is based on CTSK antibody-CTSK antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect CTSK antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, CTSK. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted human body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Product Description specifically for CTSK elisa kit

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for cath-K has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any cath-K present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for cath-K is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of cath-K bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for CTSK    The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption. This protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 protein family, is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts. However, the encoded protein is also expressed in a significant fraction of human breast cancers, where it could contribute to tumor invasiveness. Mutations in this gene are the cause of pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2013]

UniProt Comments for CTSK    Function: Closely involved in osteoclastic bone resorption and may participate partially in the disorder of bone remodeling. Displays potent endoprotease activity against fibrinogen at acid pH. May play an important role in extracellular matrix degradation.

Catalytic activity: Broad proteolytic activity. With small-molecule substrates and inhibitors, the major determinant of specificity is P2, which is preferably Leu, Met > Phe, and not Arg.

Research Articles on CTSK    1. Data indicate that cathepsin K is expressed in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) tissue in both carcinoma and tumor microenvironment (TME) cells.
