Other Notes    Small volumes of FNTA elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for FNTA purchase    MBS9339744 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the farnesyltransferase, CAAX box, alpha (FNTA) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 3.12 ng/ml - 100 ng/ml in biological research samples containing FNTA, with an estimated sensitivity of 1.0 ng/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9339744 kit is based on FNTA antibody-FNTA antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect FNTA antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, FNTA. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, Plasma and Tissue Homogenate. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for FNTA    Prenyltransferases can attach either a farnesyl group or a geranylgeranyl group in thioether linkage to the cysteine residue of proteins with a C-terminal CAAX box. CAAX geranylgeranyltransferase and CAAX farnesyltransferase are heterodimers that share the same alpha subunit but have different beta subunits. This gene encodes the alpha subunit of these transferases. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 11 and 13. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for FNTA    FNTA: Catalyzes the transfer of a farnesyl or geranyl-geranyl moiety from farnesyl or geranyl-geranyl pyrophosphate to a cysteine at the fourth position from the C-terminus of several proteins having the C-terminal sequence Cys-aliphatic-aliphatic-X. The alpha subunit is thought to participate in a stable complex with the substrate. The beta subunit binds the peptide substrate. Through RAC1 prenylation and activation may positively regulate neuromuscular junction development downstream of MUSK. Belongs to the protein prenyltransferase subunit alpha family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
