Other Notes    Small volumes of MASP1 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for MASP1 purchase    MBS900234 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the mannan-binding lectin serine peptidase 1 (C4/C2 activating component of Ra-reactive factor) (MASP1) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 3.12 ng/ml -200 ng/ml in biological research samples containing MASP1, with an estimated sensitivity of The minimum detectable dose of human MASP1 is typically less than 0.78 ng/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS900234 kit is based on MASP1 antibody-MASP1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MASP1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MASP1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for MASP1 elisa kit

Principle of the assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for MASP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MASP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MASP1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MASP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for MASP1    This gene encodes a serine protease that functions as a component of the lectin pathway of complement activation. The complement pathway plays an essential role in the innate and adaptive immune response. The encoded protein is synthesized as a zymogen and is activated when it complexes with the pathogen recognition molecules of lectin pathway, the mannose-binding lectin and the ficolins. This protein is not directly involved in complement activation but may play a role as an amplifier of complement activation by cleaving complement C2 or by activating another complement serine protease, MASP-2. The encoded protein is also able to cleave fibrinogen and factor XIII and may may be involved in coagulation. A splice variant of this gene which lacks the serine protease domain functions as an inhibitor of the complement pathway. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]

UniProt Comments for MASP1    MASP1: Functions in the lectin pathway of complement, which performs a key role in innate immunity by recognizing pathogens through patterns of sugar moieties and neutralizing them. The lectin pathway is triggered upon binding of mannan-binding lectin (MBL) and ficolins to sugar moieties which leads to activation of the associated proteases MASP1 and MASP2. Functions as an endopeptidase and may activate MASP2 or C2 or directly activate C3 the key component of complement reaction. Isoform 2 may have an inhibitory effect on the activation of the lectin pathway of complement or may cleave IGFBP5. Defects in MASP1 are the cause of 3MC syndrome type 1 (3MC1). 3MC1 is a disorder characterized by facial dysmorphism that includes hypertelorism, blepharophimosis, blepharoptosis and highly arched eyebrows, cleft lip and/or palate, craniosynostosis, learning disability and genital, limb and vesicorenal anomalies. The term 3MC syndrome includes Carnevale, Mingarelli, Malpuech, and Michels syndromes. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Research Articles on MASP1    1. Data indicate that MASP-1 and MASP-2 can readily form heterodimers after dissociation and re-association, however, in the presence of Ca(2+) exchange of subunits is slow between the homodimers.
