Other Notes    Small volumes of FABP2 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for FABP2 purchase    MBS451944 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Fatty Acid Binding Protein 2, Intestinal (FABP2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL in biological research samples containing FABP2, with an estimated sensitivity of 0.063ng/mL. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS451944 kit is based on FABP2 antibody-FABP2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect FABP2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, FABP2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for FABP2 elisa kit

Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of FABP2 in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to FABP2. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to FABP2. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain FABP2, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of FABP2 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Summary for FABP2    The protein encoded by this gene is part of the fatty acid binding protein family (FABP). FABPs are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands and participate in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. This protein functions within enterocytes, possibly to sense lipids as part of energy homeostasis. In humans polymorphisms are associated with increased fat oxidation and insulin resistance. In mice deficiency of this gene alters body weight in a gender-specific manner and causes hyperinsulinemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for FABP2    FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABP2 is probably involved in triglyceride-rich lipoprotein synthesis. Binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with a high affinity, but binds with a lower affinity to unsaturated long-chain fatty acids. FABP2 may also help maintain energy homeostasis by functioning as a lipid sensor.
