Searchable Terms for NOS2 purchase    MBS048448 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Nitric Oxide Synthase 2, Inducible (NOS2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 0.5 U/L - 16 U/L in biological research samples containing NOS2, with an estimated sensitivity of 0.1 U/L. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS048448 kit is based on NOS2 antibody-NOS2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect NOS2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, NOS2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Undiluted original Mouse body fluids, tissue homogenates, secretions or feces samples. This kit is NOT suitable for assaying non-biological sources of substances. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for NOS2    Nitric oxide is a reactive free radical which acts as a biologic mediator in several processes, including neurotransmission and antimicrobial and antitumoral activities. This gene encodes a nitric oxide synthase which is expressed in liver and is inducible by a combination of lipopolysaccharide and certain cytokines. Three related pseudogenes are located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for NOS2    iNOS: Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In macrophages, NO mediates tumoricidal and bactericidal actions. Also has nitrosylase activity and mediates cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins such COX2. Homodimer. Binds SLC9A3R1. By endotoxins and cytokines. Induced by IFNG/IFN-gamma acting synergistically with bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), TNF or IL1B/interleukin-1 beta. Expressed in the liver, retina, bone cells and airway epithelial cells of the lung. Not expressed in the platelets. Regulated by calcium/calmodulin. Aspirin inhibits expression and function of this enzyme and effects may be exerted at the level of translational/post-translational modification and directly on the catalytic activity. Belongs to the NOS family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
