Product Note    Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes    Small volumes of P-cad elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for P-cad purchase    MBS266282 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the P-cadherin (P-cad) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing P-cad. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS266282 kit is based on P-cad antibody-P-cad antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect P-cad antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, P-cad. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for P-cad    This gene is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. This gene is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is involved in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. In addition, aberrant expression of this protein is observed in cervical adenocarcinomas. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congential hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.  UniProt Comments for P-cad    CDH3: Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Interacts with CDCP1. Expressed in some normal epithelial tissues and in some carcinoma cell lines. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cell adhesion

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q22.1

Cellular Component: cell-cell adherens junction; cytoplasm; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding

Biological Process: response to drug; positive regulation of insulin-like growth factor receptor signaling pathway; intercellular junction assembly and maintenance; wound healing; positive regulation of melanin biosynthetic process; Wnt receptor signaling pathway through beta-catenin; negative regulation of transforming growth factor-beta2 production; retinal homeostasis; hair cycle process; cell-cell adhesion; positive regulation of monophenol monooxygenase activity; negative regulation of catagen; visual perception; keratinization; cell adhesion; homophilic cell adhesion

Disease: Hypotrichosis, Congenital, With Juvenile Macular Dystrophy; Ectodermal Dysplasia, Ectrodactyly, And Macular Dystrophy Syndrome
