Searchable Terms for CORT purchase    MBS704261 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Competitive ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Corticosterone, CORT, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range of 6.25 ng/ml-100 ng/ml in biological research samples containing CORT, with an estimated sensitivity of 3.125 ng/ml. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS704261 kit is based on CORT antibody-CORT antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect CORT antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, CORT. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma and tissue homogenates. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Product Description specifically for CORT elisa kit

For samples:For the quantitative determination of endogenic rabbit corticosterone (CORT) concentrations in serum, plasma and tissue homogenates.

PRINCIPLE OF THE ASSAY This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to CORT. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Biotin-conjugated CORT. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between CORT (Standards or samples) and Biotin-conjugated CORT with the pre-coated antibody specific for CORT. The more amount of CORT in samples, the less antibody bound by Biotin-conjugated CORT. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of CORT in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Summary for CORT    This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is structurally similar to somatostatin. It binds to all known somatostatin receptors, and shares many pharmacological and functional properties with somatostatin, including the depression of neuronal activity. However, it also has many properties distinct from somatostatin, such as induction of slow-wave sleep, apparently by antagonism of the excitatory effects of acetylcholine on the cortex, reduction of locomotor activity, and activation of cation selective currents not responsive to somatostatin. The preproprotein undergoes further processing into multiple mature products. Read-through transcripts exist between this gene and the upstream APITD1 (apoptosis-inducing, TAF9-like domain 1) gene, as represented in GeneID:100526739. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

UniProt Comments for CORT    Function: Binds to all human somatostatin receptor (SSTR) subtypes. It also inhibits cAMP production induced by forskolin through SSTRs.

Research Articles on CORT    1. Cortistatin emerges as a natural endogenous regulator of smooth muscle cells under pathological conditions and an attractive candidate for the pharmacological management of vascular diseases that course with neointimal lesion formation.
