Specificity    This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of IL-1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between IL-1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between IL-1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Preparation and Storage    Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.
Sample Preparation    We suggest pre-experimenting with neat (undiluted) samples, 1:2 or 1:4 dilutions. Please avoid diluting your samples more than 1:10 as it would exceed the dilution limit set for this kit. If the expected concentration of the target is beyond the detection range of the kit, please contact our technical support team
Product Note    Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes    Small volumes of IL-1 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Searchable Terms for IL-1 purchase    MBS720797 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate Competitive or Sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Interleukin 1 (IL-1) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing IL-1, with an estimated sensitivity of 1.0 pg/mL. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS720797 kit is based on IL-1 antibody-IL-1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect IL-1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, IL-1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions such as Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Product Description specifically for IL-1 elisa kit

Principle of the assay: IL-1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-IL-1 antibody and an IL-1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with IL-1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the IL-1 concentration since IL-1 from samples and IL-1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-IL-1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by IL-1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind IL-1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The IL-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Summary for IL-1    The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in various immune responses, inflammatory processes, and hematopoiesis. This cytokine is produced by monocytes and macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed and released in response to cell injury, and thus induces apoptosis. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. It has been suggested that the polymorphism of these genes is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for IL-1    IL1A: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Belongs to the IL-1 family.
