Searchable Terms for AKR1B1 purchase    Any study of glucose metabolism can not bypass the aldose reductase AKR driven glucose to sorbitol step. This enzyme provides critical energy for multiple species, including human, tissues, such as liver and seminal vesicles. In diabetes, this enzyme is either unregulated or has increased activity. Thus studies of genome sequence and expression are hot topics. To aid in research, MyBiosource has found a recombinant protein for human also reductase. Like all our recombinant proteins, this purified AKR1B1 is ideal generating monoclonal or polyclonal species antibodies for use as primary antibody in lab developed ELISA kits. Guaranteed 95% pure by SDS PAGE and BLAST basic local alignment tool verified, you can confidently use our AKR1B1 recombinant protein in all your critical cell or molecular biology arrays. Related Product Information for AKR1B1 recombinant protein

Aldose reductase (AKR1B1) is a member of the aldo-keto reductase (AKR) superfamily and catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of a wide variety of carbonyl-containing compounds to their corresponding alcohols. This protein is implicated in the development of diabetic complications by catalyzing the reduction of glucose to sorbitol. Recombinant Aldose reductase (AKR1B) protein was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Summary for AKR1B1    This gene encodes a member of the aldo/keto reductase superfamily, which consists of more than 40 known enzymes and proteins. This member catalyzes the reduction of a number of aldehydes, including the aldehyde form of glucose, and is thereby implicated in the development of diabetic complications by catalyzing the reduction of glucose to sorbitol. Multiple pseudogenes have been identified for this gene. The nomenclature system used by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee to define human aldo-keto reductase family members is known to differ from that used by the Mouse Genome Informatics database.
