Product Description specifically for ANXA9 recombinant protein

Description: ANXA-9 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing amino acids (1-338) and having a total molecular mass of 38.9 kDa. ANXA9 contains T7 tag at N-terminus and is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: The annexins are a family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins. Members of the annexin family contain 4 internal repeat domains, each of which includes a type II calcium-binding site. The calcium-binding sites are required for annexins to aggregate and cooperatively bind anionic phospholipids and extracellular matrix proteins. The most striking feature of annexin 31 is a complete ablation of all four homologous type II calcium-binding sites in the conserved tetrad core. Although all 4 type II calcium-binding sites in annexin 31 contained amino acid substitutions that ablated their function, structural analysis suggests that the conserved putative ion channel formed by the tetrad core is intact.

NCBI Summary for ANXA9    The annexins are a family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins. Members of the annexin family contain 4 internal repeat domains, each of which includes a type II calcium-binding site. The calcium-binding sites are required for annexins to aggregate and cooperatively bind anionic phospholipids and extracellular matrix proteins. This gene encodes a divergent member of the annexin protein family in which all four homologous type II calcium-binding sites in the conserved tetrad core contain amino acid substitutions that ablate their function. However, structural analysis suggests that the conserved putative ion channel formed by the tetrad core is intact. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for ANXA9    ANXA9: a calcium/phospholipid-binding protein that may act as a low affinity receptor for acetylcholine. Annexins are a family of structurally related proteins whose common property is calcium-dependent binding to phospholipids. There are at least ten different annexins in mammalian species. Annexins do not contain signal peptides, yet some annexins (A1, A2 and A5) appear to be secreted in a physiologically regulated fashion.

Protein type: Lipid-binding; Calcium-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21

Cellular Component: cell surface; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; calcium-dependent phospholipid binding; phosphatidylserine binding; acetylcholine receptor activity; phospholipid binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; cell-cell adhesion

Research Articles on ANXA9    1. Annexin A9 and periplakin co-localise in the epidermis and annexin A9 is up-regulated in differentiating keratinocytes, but the epidermal annexin A9 expression does not require periplakin.
