UniProt Comments for CPT1
Function: Involved in protein-dependent process of phospholipid transport to distribute phosphatidyl choline to the lumenal surface. The multiple transmembrane domains and lumenal hydrophilic domains of the cholinephosphotransferase might participate in the transport process.
Catalytic activity: CDP-choline + 1,2-diacylglycerol = CMP + a phosphatidylcholine.
Cofactor: Phospholipid.
Enzyme regulation: Requires a divalent cation activator, and is inhibited by CMP.
Pathway: Phospholipid metabolism; phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis; phosphatidylcholine from phosphocholine: step 2/2.
Subcellular location: Microsome membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Ref.7.
Miscellaneous: Present with 981 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the CDP-alcohol phosphatidyltransferase class-I family.
Sequence caution: The sequence AAA63571.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. The sequence CAA86895.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. The sequence CAA96012.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.
