Product Description specifically for FHIT recombinant protein

FHIT (fragile histidine triad) is an enzyme that cleaves adenosine 5' PPP 5' A to yield AMP and ADP. FHIT gene encompasses the common fragile site FRA3B on chromosome 3. Alterations and deletions of the FHIT gene are strongly linked to the genesis and establishment of human tumors of the lung, cervix, breast, colon, stomach and pancreas. In normal cells, FHIT may act as a tumor suppressor. This protein physically associates with ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9. Recombinant human FHIT, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Summary for FHIT    This gene, a member of the histidine triad gene family, encodes a diadenosine 5',5'''-P1,P3-triphosphate hydrolase involved in purine metabolism. The gene encompasses the common fragile site FRA3B on chromosome 3, where carcinogen-induced damage can lead to translocations and aberrant transcripts of this gene. In fact, aberrant transcripts from this gene have been found in about half of all esophageal, stomach, and colon carcinomas. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

UniProt Comments for FHIT    FHIT: a member of the histidine triad gene family. A diadenosine 5',5'''-P1,P3-triphosphate hydrolase involved in purine metabolism. Its gene encompasses the common fragile site FRA3B on chromosome 3, where carcinogen-induced damage can lead to translocations and aberrant transcripts of this gene. A possible tumor suppressor in specific tissues. Phospho-FHIT observed in liver and kidney, but not in brain and lung. Phospho-FHIT undetected in all tested human tumor cell lines. Aberrant transcripts from this gene have been found in about half of all esophageal, stomach, and colon carcinomas.
