Tag Information    This protein contains an N-terminal tag and may also contain a C-terminal Myc-tag. N-terminal host tags may vary (His, His-SUMO, His-B2M, GST). Tag types are determined by various factors including tag-protein stability and, therefore, are subject to change; please inquire for tag information. Additional charge for Tag removal. Tag removal service standardly refers to removal of N-terminal Tag. Any C-terminal Myc-tag may remain intact unless removal of the C-terminal Myc-tag is specifically requested. In most cases tags can be successfully removed. If the lab concludes the protein is no longer stable after tag removal then your protein will be supplied with the tag intact, and you will not be charged for tag removal service.
Sterility    Sterile filter available upon request.
Endotoxin    Low endotoxin available upon request.

Preparation and Storage    Store at -20 degrees C. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C or -80 degrees C. Store working aliquots at 4 degrees C for up to one week. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended.
ISO Certification    Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Laboratory.
Other Notes    Small volumes of Fth1 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for Fth1    overexpressed during hepatic tumor development; used as an early marker for hepatocellular carcinoma [RGD, Feb 2006]
Section Bar
UniProt Comments for Fth1    Ferritin-H: Stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. Important for iron homeostasis. Has ferroxidase activity. Iron is taken up in the ferrous form and deposited as ferric hydroxides after oxidation. Also plays a role in delivery of iron to cells. Mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. Oligomer of 24 subunits. There are two types of subunits: L (light) chain and H (heavy) chain. The major chain can be light or heavy, depending on the species and tissue type. The functional molecule forms a roughly spherical shell with a diameter of 12 nm and contains a central cavity into which the insoluble mineral iron core is deposited. Belongs to the ferritin family.

Protein type: Oxidoreductase; EC 1.16.3.1; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - porphyrin and chlorophyll

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; nucleus

Molecular Function: ferroxidase activity; protein binding; ferric iron binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; negative regulation of fibroblast proliferation; cellular iron ion homeostasis; immune response; iron ion transport; intracellular sequestering of iron ion

Research Articles on Fth1    1. Data suggest that soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) indices and the ratio of sTfR/ferritin could be useful indicators for monitoring iron deficiency during endurance training.
