Preparation and Storage    Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 2-8C for one month.
Aliquot and store at -80C for 12 months.

Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
ISO Certification    Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 Certified Laboratory.
Supply Chain Verification    Manufactured in a lab with traceable raw materials manufactured on site. Coordinated product portfolio of antibodies, pairs, conjugates, recombinant proteins, and immunoassay materials available. Please inquire.
Other Notes    Small volumes of KL recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for KL    Klotho: May have weak glycosidase activity towards glucuronylated steroids. However, it lacks essential active site Glu residues at positions 239 and 872, suggesting it may be inactive as a glycosidase in vivo. May be involved in the regulation of calcium and phosphorus homeostasis by inhibiting the synthesis of active vitamin D. Essential factor for the specific interaction between FGF23 and FGFR1. Defects in KL are a cause of hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC). A severe metabolic disorder that manifests with hyperphosphatemia and massive calcium deposits in the skin and subcutaneous tissues. Some patients manifest recurrent, transient, painful swellings of the long bones associated with the radiographic findings of periosteal reaction and cortical hyperostosis and absence of skin involvement. Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 1 family. Klotho subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Hydrolase; EC

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: signal transducer activity; protein binding; beta-glucuronidase activity; fibroblast growth factor binding; hydrolase activity; hydrolase activity, acting on glycosyl bonds; hydrolase activity, hydrolyzing O-glycosyl compounds; fibroblast growth factor receptor binding

Biological Process: calcium ion homeostasis; fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; metabolic process; carbohydrate metabolic process; energy reserve metabolic process; insulin receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of bone mineralization; acute inflammatory response; aging

Research Articles on KL    1. Klotho is expressed in the retina and is important for healthy retinal function. Although the mechanisms for the observed abnormalities are not known, they are consistent with the accelerating aging phenotype seen in other tissues.
