Preparation and Storage    MGLL should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Other Notes    Small volumes of MGLL recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Product Description specifically for MGLL recombinant protein

Description: MGLL Human Recombinant fused with a 20 amino acid His tag at N-terminus produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 333 amino acids (1-313 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 36.4kDa. The MGLL is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: MGLL is a membrane-associated member of the serine hydrolase superfamily. MGLL is expressed in abundance in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. MGLL functions jointly with hormone-sensitive lipase (LIPE) to hydrolyze intracellular triglyceride stores in adipocytes and other cells to fatty acids and glycerol. MGLL may also complement lipoprotein lipase (LPL) in completing hydrolysis of monoglycerides resulting from degradation of lipoprotein triglycerides.

NCBI Summary for MGLL    This gene encodes a serine hydrolase of the AB hydrolase superfamily that catalyzes the conversion of monoacylglycerides to free fatty acids and glycerol. The encoded protein plays a critical role in several physiological processes including pain and nociperception through hydrolysis of the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol. Expression of this gene may play a role in cancer tumorigenesis and metastasis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

UniProt Comments for MGLL    MGLL: Converts monoacylglycerides to free fatty acids and glycerol. Hydrolyzes the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol, and thereby contributes to the regulation of endocannabinoid signaling, nociperception and perception of pain. Regulates the levels of fatty acids that serve as signaling molecules and promote cancer cell migration, invasion and tumor growth. Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Monoacylglycerol lipase family.

Research Articles on MGLL    1. In subcutaneous adipose tissue, DAGL-a mRNA was upregulated and fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) mRNAs were down-regulated in obese subjects, but the diets had no influence.
