Breast cancer type 2 susceptibility protein

BRCA2 is a protein synthesized by the BRCA2 gene. Its name is derived from Breast Cancer 2. This gene is located on the chromosome 13. The molecular weight of the protein is 38kDa.

The BRCA2 antibody detects the levels of BRCA2 in human beings. The gene BRCA2 is a tumor suppressor. It is involved in DNA repair. It associates with other proteins to repair faulty and broken DNA. This it maintains the genetic stability of a cell. It may also aid in cytokinesis. It also plays a crucial role in the development of the embryo.
