DNAK is the prokaryotic analog of HSP70. HSP70 is nothing but the 70kDa heat shock protein. It has three functional domains; the N-terminal ATPase domain, substrate binding domain, C-terminal domain.

DNAK antibody has the ability to detect DNAK protein. These heat shock proteins are involved in assembly, folding and translocation of proteins. They also protect the cell from heat injury and other kind of stresses. They are also involved in degrading defective proteins.

DNAK is associated with disorders like bacterial and viral infections, autoimmune diseases etc. Overexpression is seen in malignant melanoma and it is under expressed in renal cell cancer.
