Adenylate cyclase 1

Also known as Adenylate cyclase 1 (ATP pyrophosphate-lyase 1) (Adenylyl cyclase 1).
Plays essential roles in regulation of cellular metabolism by catalyzing the synthesis of a second messenger, cAMP.

Adenylate cyclase 2

Also known as Adenylate cyclase 2 (ATP pyrophosphate-lyase 2) (Adenylyl cyclase 2).
Plays essential roles in regulation of cellular metabolism by catalyzing the synthesis of a second messenger, cAMP.

Adenylate cyclase CyaB

Also known as Adenylate cyclase CyaB (ATP pyrophosphate-lyase) (Adenylyl cyclase).
In vitro, CyaB catalyzes the biosynthesis of cyclic AMP (cAMP) from ATP. It seems that under the physiological conditions CyaB has no function in cAMP processes. In vitro, it is also able to hydrolyze substrates such as thiamine triphosphate (ThTP) and inorganic triphosphate (PPPi) at a low rate. It has a slight preference for ThTP over ATP and PPPi in the presence of manganese ions. This PPPase activity is probably not of physiological importance.

Adenylate cyclase type 1

Also known as Adenylate cyclase type 1 (ATP pyrophosphate-lyase 1) (Adenylate cyclase type I) (Adenylyl cyclase 1) (AC1) (Ca(2+)/calmodulin-activated adenylyl cyclase).
ADCY1: a calmodulin-sensitive adenylyl cyclase expressed in brain. The mouse protein is involved in pattern formation of the brain. May be involved in regulatory processes in the central nervous system. It may play a role in memory acquisition and learning.

Adenylate cyclase type 10

SAC: Soluble adenylyl cyclase that has a critical role in mammalian spermatogenesis. Produces the cAMP which mediates in part the cAMP-responsive nuclear factors indispensable for maturation of sperm in the epididymis. Induces capacitation, the maturational process that sperm undergo prior to fertilization. May be the bicarbonate sensor. Involved in ciliary beat regulation. Genetic variations in ADCY10 are a cause of susceptibility to hypercalciuria absorptive type 2 (HCA2). Absorptive hypercalciuria is a common type of hypercalciuria, a condition characterized by excessive urinary calcium excretion. Absorptive hypercalciuria is due to gastrointestinal hyperabsorption of calcium and is a frequent cause of calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis. Belongs to the adenylyl cyclase class-4/guanylyl cyclase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
