Defects in PTS are the cause of BH4-deficient hyperphenylalaninemia type A (HPABH4A); also called 6-pyruvoyl-tetrahydropterin synthase deficiency (PTS deficiency) or hyperphenylalaninemia tetrahydrobiopterin-deficient due to PTS deficiency.
