MBS932081 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the solute carrier family 27 (fatty acid transporter), member 4 (SLC27A4) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing SLC27A4. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS932081 kit is based on SLC27A4 antibody-SLC27A4 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect SLC27A4 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, SLC27A4. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for SLC27A4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SLC27A4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SLC27A4 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SLC27A4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

SLC27A4: Involved in translocation of long-chain fatty acids (LFCA) across the plasma membrane. Appears to be the principal fatty acid transporter in small intestinal enterocytes. Plays a role in the formation of the epidermal barrier. Required for fat absorption in early embryogenesis. Has acyl-CoA ligase activity for long-chain and very-long-chain fatty acids. Defects in SLC27A4 are the cause of ichthyosis prematurity syndrome (IPS). A keratinization disorder characterized by complications in the second trimester of pregnancy resulting from polyhydramnion, with premature birth of a child with thick caseous desquamating epidermis, respiratory complications and transient eosinophilia. After recovery during the first months of life, the symptoms are relatively benign and the patients suffer from a lifelong non-scaly ichthyosis with atopic manifestations. Belongs to the ATP-dependent AMP-binding enzyme family.
