The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2021770 kit is based on SOCS1 antibody-SOCS1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect SOCS1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, SOCS1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Suppressors Of Cytokine Signaling 1 (SOCS1). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Suppressors Of Cytokine Signaling 1 (SOCS1). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Suppressors Of Cytokine Signaling 1 (SOCS1), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of Suppressors Of Cytokine Signaling 1 (SOCS1) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

This gene encodes a member of the STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI), also known as suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS), family. SSI family members are cytokine-inducible negative regulators of cytokine signaling. The expression of this gene can be induced by a subset of cytokines, including IL2, IL3 erythropoietin (EPO), CSF2/GM-CSF, and interferon (IFN)-gamma. The protein encoded by this gene functions downstream of cytokine receptors, and takes part in a negative feedback loop to attenuate cytokine signaling. Knockout studies in mice suggested the role of this gene as a modulator of IFN-gamma action, which is required for normal postnatal growth and survival. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
