The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing ST6GALNAC1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS261267 kit is based on ST6GALNAC1 antibody-ST6GALNAC1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect ST6GALNAC1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, ST6GALNAC1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

ST6GALNAC1 transfers a sialic acid, N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc), in an alpha-2,6 linkage to O-linked GalNAc residues. The cancer-associated sialyl-Tn (sTn) antigen is formed by ST6GALNAC1-catalyzed sialylation of GalNAc residues on mucins (Ikehara et al., 1999 [PubMed 10536037]; Sewell et al., 2006 [PubMed 16319059]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
