MBS2502676 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the VCAM-1 (VCAM-1/CD106) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing VCAM-1/CD106. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2502676 kit is based on VCAM-1/CD106 antibody-VCAM-1/CD106 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect VCAM-1/CD106 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, VCAM-1/CD106. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Intended Uses: This ELISA kit can be applied to the in vitro quantitative determination of Rat VCAM-1 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been precoated with an antibody specific to Rat VCAM-1. Standards or samples are added to appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibodies specific for Rat VCAM-1 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. After incubation, free components are washed away. Then the Substrate Reagent is added to each well, only those wells that contain Rat VCAM-1, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin- HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction will be terminated by adding Stop Solution and appears yellow in color. The optical density (OD) can be measured with spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Rat VCAM-1. The concentration of Rat VCAM-1 in samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples with the standard curve.

NCBI Summary for VCAM-1/CD106
binds integrin very late antigen (VLA4); plays a role in cell adhesion [RGD, Feb 2006]
UniProt Comments for VCAM-1/CD106
VCAM1: Important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Interacts with the beta-1 integrin VLA4 on leukocytes, and mediates both adhesion and signal transduction. The VCAM1/VLA4 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
