The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing VEGF-D. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS044687 kit is based on VEGF-D antibody-VEGF-D antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect VEGF-D antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, VEGF-D. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%). Published as a c-fos induced growth factor, VEGF - gt vascular endothelial growth factor - (or Unipro FigF) is a well-known cancer therapeutic target. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor/vascular endothelial growth factor (PDGF/VEGF) family and is active in angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and endothelial cell growth. This secreted protein undergoes a complex proteolytic maturation, generating multiple processed forms which bind and activate VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 receptors. This protein is structurally and functionally similar to vascular endothelial growth factor C. Read-through transcription has been observed between this locus and the upstream PIR (GeneID 8544) locus. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
