Other Notes

Small volumes of pcb recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for pcb

Function: The antenna complex functions as a light receptor, it captures and delivers excitation energy to photosystem II and possibly to photosystem I. The Prochlorales pcb genes are not related to the higher plant LHCs.

Cofactor: Divinyl chlorophyll a

By similarity.Divinyl chlorophyll b

By similarity.

Subunit structure: The antenna complex consists of divinyl chlorophylls (a and b) and divinyl chlorophyll a/b binding proteins. Binds less divinyl chlorophyll b than does low-light-adapted Prochlorococcus. Also forms complexes with PSII, consisting of a PSII dimer and 4 or 8 PcbA subunits. These complexes are also found under conditions of iron-starvation.

Subcellular location: Cellular thylakoid membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

Probable Ref.3 Ref.4.

Induction: As the light levels increase antenna complex levels decrease. Transcript expression level is unaffected by iron concentration. Ref.4

Miscellaneous: This high-light-adapted strain contains only 1 pcb gene.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the PsbB/PsbC family. IsiA/pcb subfamily.
