Uncoupling Protein 1, Mitochondrial (UCP1) ELISA Kit for Fish

Member of Uncoupling protein PUMP2 family. Encodes a mitochondrial uncoupling protein AtUCP1 involved in maintain the redox poise of the mitochondrial electron transport chain to facilitate photosynthetic metabolism. Disruption of UCP1 results in a photosynthetic phenotype. Specifically there is a restriction in photorespiration with a decrease in the rate of oxidation of photorespiratory glycine in the mitochondrion. This change leads to an associated reduced photosynthetic carbon assimilation rate.

Function: PUMPS are mitochondrial transporter proteins that create proton leaks across the inner mitochondrial membrane, thus uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation. This leads to a decrease in the efficiency of oxidative phosphorylation and an increase in heat production. Is involved in protecting plant cells against oxidative stress damage and maintaining the redox balance of the mitochondrial electron transport chain to facilitate photosynthetic metabolism.
