Other Notes

Small volumes of MTM1 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for MTM1

Function: Involved in the mitochondrial activation of SOD2 by specifically facilitating insertion of the essential manganese cofactor. Has the ability to activate iron regulon in an iron-dependent manner. Responds to calorie restriction (CR) strength. Ref.5 Ref.7 Ref.8

Subcellular location: Mitochondrion inner membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

Potential Ref.5.

Disruption phenotype: Loss of mitochondrial manganese superoxide dismutase SOD2 activity due to misincorporation of iron into SOD2 rather than manganese. Normal SOD2 activity when in association with YFH1 deletion. Doesn't impair activity of a cytosolic version of manganese SOD. The iron regulatory transcription factor AFT1 is constitutively active. Accumulates mtDNA mutations. Elevated mitochondrial iron and manganese levels. Ref.5 Ref.6

Miscellaneous: Present with 538 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the mitochondrial carrier family.Contains 3 Solcar repeats.
