UniProt Comments for MOV10

MOV10: Probable RNA helicase. Required for RNA-mediated gene silencing by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). Required for both miRNA-mediated translational repression and miRNA- mediated cleavage of complementary mRNAs by RISC. Also required for RNA-directed transcription and replication of the human hepatitis delta virus (HDV). Interacts with small capped HDV RNAs derived from genomic hairpin structures that mark the initiation sites of RNA-dependent HDV RNA transcription. Belongs to the DNA2/NAM7 helicase family. SDE3 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: RNA-binding; RNA processing; Helicase; EC 3.6.4.13; Spliceosome

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; helicase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; Notch signaling pathway; fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; phosphoinositide-mediated signaling; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; miRNA-mediated gene silencing, mRNA cleavage; innate immune response
