UniProt Comments for TFDP2

TFDP2: Can stimulate E2F-dependent transcription. Binds DNA cooperatively with E2F family members through the E2 recognition site, 5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3', found in the promoter region of a number of genes whose products are involved in cell cycle regulation or in DNA replication. The DP2/E2F complex functions in the control of cell-cycle progression from G1 to S phase. The E2F1/DP complex appears to mediate both cell proliferation and apoptosis. Belongs to the E2F/DP family. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q23

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; transcription factor complex

Molecular Function: protein domain specific binding; DNA binding; transcription cofactor activity; transcription factor binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; Notch signaling pathway; transcription, DNA-dependent; transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; gene expression; mitotic cell cycle
