Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Epithelial Neutrophil-Activating Protein 78 (ENA 78), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Recombinant Human Epithelial Neutrophil-Activating Protein 78 (CXCL5)
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
ENA 78 Human; Epithelial Neutrophil-Activating Protein 78 Human Recombinant (CXCL5); Small inducible cytokine B5; CXCL5; Epithelial-derived neutrophil-activating protein 78; Neutrophil-activating peptide ENA-78; ENA-78(1-78); chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 5; SCYB5
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be, Ala- Ala -Val-Leu-A rg
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
The CXCL5 was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution in water containing no additives.
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity/Purification
Greater than 95.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized ENA78 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution CXCL5 should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
11,972 Da
OMIM
600324
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P42830
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized ENA-78 in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Biological Activity
The biological activity was determined by measuring the dose dependent mobilization of intracellular calcium (calcium flux) with human neutrophils. Significant calcium mobilization is observed with 100ng/mL (corresponding to a Specific Activity of 10,000IU/mg) of recombinant human ENA-78.

Other Notes

Small volumes of ENA 78 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for ENA 78

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. Chemokines, which recruit and activate leukocytes, are classified by function (inflammatory or homeostatic) or by structure. This protein is proposed to bind the G-protein coupled receptor chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 to recruit neutrophils, to promote angiogenesis and to remodel connective tissues. This protein is thought to play a role in cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
