Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 (mIGF1), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Recombinant Mouse Insulin Like Growth Factor-1
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
IGF1 Mouse; Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 Mouse Recombinant; Somatomedin C; IGF-I; IGFIA; IGF1
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Gly-Pro-Gl u-Thr-Leu
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
The protein was lyophilized with no additives.
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity/Purification
Greater than 98.0% as determined by (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized IGFI although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution IGF-1 should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
17,623 Da
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P05017
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized IGF1 in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.47 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). 2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of IGF-I as a Reference Standard.
Biological Activity
The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of murine BALBC 3T3 cells (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is < 1.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1MU/mg.

Other Notes

Small volumes of mIGF1 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for mIGF1

IGF1: The insulin-like growth factors, isolated from plasma, are structurally and functionally related to insulin but have a much higher growth-promoting activity. May be a physiological regulator of [1-14C]-2-deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) transport and glycogen synthesis in osteoblasts. Stimulates glucose transport in rat bone-derived osteoblastic (PyMS) cells and is effective at much lower concentrations than insulin, not only regarding glycogen and DNA synthesis but also with regard to enhancing glucose uptake. Defects in IGF1 are the cause of insulin-like growth factor I deficiency (IGF1 deficiency). IGF1 deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by growth retardation, sensorineural deafness and mental retardation. Belongs to the insulin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
