Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin -19 in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O at a concentration of 0.5mg/ml or less.
Biological Activity
The activity is determined by it's ability to activate STAT following receptor-ligand interaction.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL 19 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL 19

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the IL10 cytokine subfamily. This cytokine is found to be preferentially expressed in monocytes. It can bind the IL20 receptor complex and lead to the activation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). A similar cytokine in mouse is reported to up-regulate the expression of IL6 and TNF-alpha and induce apoptosis, which suggests a role of this cytokine in inflammatory responses. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
