Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Interleukin-2 (rIL 2), Active Protein
Full Product Name
Recombinant Rat Interleukin-2
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
IL 2 Rat; Interleukin-2 Rat Recombinant; T-cell growth factor (TCGF); Aldesleukin; Lymphokine; IL-2
Sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Met-Ala-Pr o-Thr-Ser
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
The protein (1mg/ml) was lyophilized without any additives.
Purity/Purification
Greater than 95.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Interleukin-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18° C. Upon reconstitution IL2 should be stored at 4° C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
17,633 Da
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P17108
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Physical Appearance
Sterile Filtered White Lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin 2 in sterile 100mM AcOH not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Protein Content
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:
1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.535 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics).
2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of IL-2 as a Reference Standard.
Biological Activity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of murine CTLL-2 cells is 0.1-0.4 ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 2,500,000-10,000,000 units/mg.

Other Notes

Small volumes of rIL 2 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
