Deleted in Azoospermia-Like (DAZL) Mouse Recombinant Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS1436948

The DAZ (Deleted in AZoospermia) gene family encodes potential RNA binding proteins that are expressed in prenatal and postnatal germ cells of males and females. This protein is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of fetal germ cells and to the cytoplasm… More details

NCBI Summary for Dazl

This gene encodes a member of the depleted in azoospermia-like (DAZL) protein family. Members of this family contain an RNA recognition motif, interact with poly A binding proteins, and may be involved in the initiation of translation. The encoded protein is expressed in the cytoplasm of pluripotent stem cells, and in both male and female germ cells, where it is essential for gametogenesis. Disruption of this gene is associated with infertility. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2013]

UniProt Comments for Dazl

RNA-binding protein, which is essential for gametogenesis in both males and females. Plays a central role during spermatogenesis. Acts by binding to the 3'-UTR of mRNA, specifically recognizing GUU triplets, and thereby regulating the translation of key transcripts.
