Rabbit Anti-GFAP Polyclonal Antibody – Cat# MBS1489669

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-GFAP antibody

IHC image of MBS1489669 diluted at 1:200 and staining in paraffin-embedded human glioma performed on a Leica BondTM system.
After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0).
Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT.
Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight.
The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.

Immunofluorescence (IF) of anti-GFAP antibody

Immunofluorescence staining of A549 cells with MBS1489669 at 1:66, counter-stained with DAPI.
The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum.
The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C.
The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-GFAP antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for GFAP

This gene encodes one of the major intermediate filament proteins of mature astrocytes. It is used as a marker to distinguish astrocytes from other glial cells during development. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. UniProt Comments for GFAP

GFAP: a class-III intermediate filament protein. A cell-specific marker that, during the development of the central nervous system, distinguishes astrocytes from other glial cells. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system. An additional transcript variant isoform has been described, but its full length sequence has not been determined.
