Mouse anti Feline immunodeficiency virus p24 antibody, clone NM3-6A9 recognizes feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) p24 gag capsid protein, derived from the p50 GAG polyprotein. The p24 capsid protein forms the conical viral core encapsulating the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex and is involved in viral packaging and subsequent release from infected cells. FIV is a lentivirus infecting many domestic and wild cat species, resulting in a progressive immunodeficiency disease bearing a number of parallels with HIV-1 infection in man (Sparger et al. 1989). This antibody does not recognise Feline Leukemia Virus, Feline Herpes Virus type 1, Feline Coronavirus or Feline Calicivirus.
