Rabbit
Form/Format
Purified
Purified IgG - liquid
Concentration
IgG concentration 5.0 mg/ml (lot specific)
Specificity
Rabbit anti Mouse G Protein alpha 0 antibody recognizes the alpha subunit of murine Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(o). Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(o) is a 354 amino acid membrane associated protein of ~40 kDa forming a heterotrimeric protein complex with B and Y subunits. Two isoforms of the alpha subunit are generated by alternative splicing with a single amino acid substitution in the immunogen sequence (a lysine for an asparagine at position 346), it is not known whether this substitution affects the binding to isoform 2.

Rabbit anti Mouse G Protein alpha 0 antibody has been used successfully for the detection of G(o) in Drosophila by western blotting (Guo et al. 2011).
Preparation and Storage
It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

0.09% Sodium Azide (NaN3)
Preparation
Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography on Protein G
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to the amino acids 345 - 354 (C-ANNLRGCGLY) of the native isoform 1 molecule conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Haemocyanin.
Species Cross Reactivity
Reacts with: Drosophila
N.B. Antibody reactivity and working conditions may vary between species.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-Gnao1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for Gnao1

G-alpha(o): Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. The G(o) protein function is not clear. Stimulated by RGS14. Interacts with RGS14. G proteins are composed of 3 units; alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha chain contains the guanine nucleotide binding site. Belongs to the G-alpha family. G(i/o/t/z) subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: G protein; G protein, heterotrimeric alpha G((i/o/t/z)); G protein, heterotrimeric

Cellular Component: neuron projection; protein complex; membrane; dendrite; plasma membrane; heterotrimeric G-protein complex; intracellular; myelin sheath
