This item recognises CD107b, also known as LAMP-2, a single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the LAMP family.

CD107b is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is associated with lysosomal membranes and is primarily expressed on mononuclear phagocytes. Expression of CD107b varies between cell populations and the molecular weight of CD107b can vary between 92-120kD. This item migrates at 115 kDa in SDS page.

Studies suggest that CD107b may be involved in a range of cellular processes including leukocyte adhesion, protection of the lysosomal membrane from autodigestion, maintenance of the acidic environment of the lysosome along with inter- and intracellular signal transduction. CD107b has also been implicated in tumour metastasis.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

NCBI Summary for CD107b

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a family of membrane glycoproteins. This glycoprotein provides selectins with carbohydrate ligands. It may play a role in tumor cell metastasis. It may also function in the protection, maintenance, and adhesion of the lysosome. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct proteins. UniProt Comments for CD107b

LAMP2: Implicated in tumor cell metastasis. May function in protection of the lysosomal membrane from autodigestion, maintenance of the acidic environment of the lysosome, adhesion when expressed on the cell surface (plasma membrane), and inter- and intracellular signal transduction. Protects cells from the toxic effects of methylating mutagens. Defects in LAMP2 are the cause of Danon disease (DAND); also known as glycogen storage disease type 2B (GSD2B). DAND is a lysosomal glycogen storage disease characterized by the clinical triad of cardiomyopathy, vacuolar myopathy and mental retardation. It is often associated with an accumulation of glycogen in muscle and lysosomes. Belongs to the LAMP family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
