TBXA2R Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS247432

The thromboxane A2 receptor (TBXA2R) is a member of the Prostanoid Receptor subfamily. TBXA2R performs an essential role in hemostasis by interacting with thromboxane A2 to induce platelet aggregation. Thromboxane A2 has been implicated in myocardial infarct,… More details

NCBI Summary for TBXA2R

This gene encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family. The protein interacts with thromboxane A2 to induce platelet aggregation and regulate hemostasis. A mutation in this gene results in a bleeding disorder. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

UniProt Comments for TBXA2R

TXA2-R: Receptor for thromboxane A2 (TXA2), a potent stimulator of platelet aggregation. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. In the kidney, the binding of TXA2 to glomerular TP receptors causes intense vasoconstriction. Activates phospholipase C. Isoform 1 activates adenylyl cyclase. Isoform 2 inhibits adenylyl cyclase. Defects in TBXA2R are the cause of susceptibility to bleeding disorder platelet-type 13 (BDPLT13). BDPLT13 is a disorder characterized by reduced platelet aggregation and a tendency to mild mucocutaneous bleeding. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: GPCR, family 1; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; acrosome

Molecular Function: protein binding; guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; thromboxane A2 receptor activity

Biological Process: response to drug; second-messenger-mediated signaling; platelet activation; response to lipopolysaccharide; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; positive regulation of angiogenesis; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; positive regulation of vasoconstriction; positive regulation of smooth muscle contraction; blood coagulation; inflammatory response; response to nutrient; positive regulation of blood pressure; positive regulation of GTPase activity
