Other Notes

Small volumes of MCP-2 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS269278 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 2 (MCP-2) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing MCP-2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS269278 kit is based on MCP-2 antibody-MCP-2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MCP-2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MCP-2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for MCP-2

This antimicrobial gene is one of several chemokine genes clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Chemokines form a superfamily of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The superfamily is divided into four subfamilies based on the arrangement of N-terminal cysteine residues of the mature peptide. This chemokine is a member of the CC subfamily which is characterized by two adjacent cysteine residues. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. By recruiting leukocytes to sites of inflammation this cytokine may contribute to tumor-associated leukocyte infiltration and to the antiviral state against HIV infection. UniProt Comments for MCP-2

CCL8: Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. May play a role in neoplasia and inflammatory host responses. This protein can bind heparin. The processed form MCP-2(6-76) does not show monocyte chemotactic activity, but inhibits the chemotactic effect most predominantly of CCL7, and also of CCL2 and CCL5 and CCL8. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Protein type: Secreted; Chemokine; Secreted, signal peptide; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q11.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space

Molecular Function: heparin binding; chemokine activity; phospholipase activator activity; protein kinase activity

Biological Process: positive regulation of catalytic activity; cellular calcium ion homeostasis; exocytosis; cell-cell signaling; response to virus; calcium ion transport; immune response; signal transduction; inflammatory response; chemotaxis; protein amino acid phosphorylation
