Albumin (ALB) ELISA Kit for Pigeon

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS280647

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ALB in samples. An antibody specific for ALB has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyALB present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of ALB elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS280647 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Albumin, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing ALB. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS280647 kit is based on ALB antibody-ALB antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect ALB antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, ALB. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for ALB

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for ALB

albumin: Serum albumin, the main protein of plasma, has a good binding capacity for water, Ca(2+), Na(+), K(+), fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin and drugs. Its main function is the regulation of the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. Major zinc transporter in plasma, typically binds about 80% of all plasma zinc. Plasma. Belongs to the ALB/AFP/VDB family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
